History - Known to many as the Warehouse District, the North loop in the 1800's was known as a busy commercial and industrial hub for the city. The actual name "North Loop" even came from this hub as this is where all the railroads lines met here and branched out to other areas of the city.
As the 1900's came about, commercial industry favored a quicker way of transportation in the form of Detroit. The North Loop quickly became a neighborhood full of empty warehouse buildings and zero industry. These very same buildings have now been converted into the incredible spaces we all now live in and call home in the North Loop neighborhood. Many new modern projects have also come to fruition and the mix of converted spaces along with new construction is impressive to say the least. Check out the new Twins stadium, Target Field (2010 opening) and witness what can be done in the North Loop neighborhood.
